Free events at this weekend’s St. Eugene Writers’ Workshops

Sue Purvis, Guest Speaker at St. Eugene Writers’ Workshop Dinner

During the St. Eugene Writers’ Workshops, May 10-12, two major events are free and open to the public.

On Friday afternoon, there will be a panel discussion on ‘Publishing in Canada’ hosted by Keith Liggett, Vice President of the Federation of BC Writers.

The panel, Anna Marie Sewell, former Poet Laurate of Edmonton, and Anosh Irani, award winning playwright, will discuss the dos and don’ts and the ins and outs of Canadian publishing.

Friday evening Anna Marie Sewell, Anosh Irani, Jeff Giles and Danielle Gibson, leader of the Youth Sessions will hold a free public reading of their work.

On Saturday evening, there is a Conference Dinner after which bestselling author Sue Purvis, Go Find (Blackstone, 2019) will discuss ‘The Holes—What happens after you get that publishing contract.’

Reservations and tickets are required for the conference dinner. The cost is $45. A limited number of tickets remain available. Reservations may be made by calling the St. Eugene Resort at 250-420-2000 and asking for the Dining Room.

The St. Eugene Writers Workshops bring award winning writers to lead intensive workshops in their field with interested emerging and published authors. Spaces are still available in the Playwriting, the Poetry and the Finding Your Voice workshops.
