Residential school closure 50th anniversary event postponed
The Ktunaxa Nation March 28 announced that the 50th anniversary commemoration event marking the closure of the Kootenay Indian Residential School has been postponed due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
The commemoration event was scheduled for June 25 to 28 at St. Eugene Golf Resort and Casino.
The new dates are Sept. 18 to 20, starting with ceremonies on Friday, Sept. 18, a traditional powwow on Saturday and closing ceremonies on Sunday.
The re-scheduling of the St. Eugene Golf Tournament has not yet been confirmed.
