WildSafeBC celebrates with Aboriginal Early Years Services

WildSafeBC Kimberley- Cranbrook was honoured to be invited to the Aboriginal Early Years Services’ National Indigenous Peoples’ Day 2019 event on June 18 at Idlewild Park in Cranbrook.

The day both started off and ended with the Little Dippers drumming, “they were so focused and inspiring- it gave me shivers! It is very rewarding to be involved in the National Indigenous Day for two years in a row now,” stated local WildSafeBC Community Coordinator Danica Roussy.

The kids and Danica learnt about keeping wildlife wild and communities safe by sharing stories. The children expressed how important it is to help the animals by keeping them safe – free from harm’s way.

“it is important to understand how every culture in the East Kootenays approach the safety of a community when it comes to wildlife in order to see the big picture,” Roussy said, “and connecting with the Aboriginal Early Years Services is one of the many greats way to do this. I am so grateful for the relationship WildSafeBC and the Aboriginal Early Years Team has created throughout the last couple of years and I hope it continues to grow.”
