Tourism Fernie AGM June 19

The 2014 Tourism Fernie annual general meeting will be held at the Park Place Lodge on Thursday, June 19.

The AGM will bring together all stakeholders in Fernieā€™s Tourism future for official business plus networking social and notable guest speakers.

With an emphasis on community involvement, Tourism Fernieā€™s Executive Officer Jikke Gyorki invites everyone to join the event for the social portion with speakers.

ā€œTourism is a key component in Fernieā€™s strategic growth, social structure and economic strengthā€ she says. ā€œItā€™s important for us to hear from the entire community on how they want to see us market Fernie to our local and international visitors, and in turn for Tourism Fernie to provide a forum for the industry to come together and plan ahead.ā€

Keynote speaker Andrew Nickerson will be a very welcome addition to the agenda. Nickerson is the President and CEO of Tourism Canmore Kananaskis and has over 20 years of experience and knowledge in marketing recreational destinations in Canadian and International Tourism. The Provincial Tourism Minister has recently appointed him to the newly formed Alberta Strategic Tourism Council.

Gyorki will make a brief presentation on Tourism Fernieā€™s plans for 2014-2015. There will also be updates from Tristan Chernove, Manager Director of Canadian Rockies International Airport and from Kootenay Rockies Tourism.

The formal portion of the event for members of Tourism Fernie and key partners will commence at 4 p.m. and will include financial & operational presentations along with voting for director seats. For full agenda and further details, please visit www.tourismfernie.org.

From 5 p.m., the event is open to all and appetizers and beverages will be served.
