Fire deemed suspicious

RCMP along with the Kimberley Fire DepartmentĀ are currently investigating a suspicious fire that started around 11:30 p.m. on November 28.

The fire department responded to a fire at a vacant restaurant/rooming house (formerly the Mozart House) located in the Platzl.

Because the source of the fire is unknown, fire officials contacted police. Today (Nov. 29) a Kimberley Fire Department Inspector, RCMP and the Forensic Identification Services conducted a scene examination. The fire is deemed suspicious and an investigation is ongoing.

Further examination will be conducted but at this time there appears to be minimal structure damage. The fire department was able to contain the fire to the top floor.

If anybody has information about the fire or witnesses anybody in the area around 11 p.m. Nov 28 they are asked to contact the Kimberley RCMP.

Sgt. Chris Newel,
