Toilet Replacement Rebate Program

If you’ve ever thought about going with an ultra low-flow toilet, now’s the time to take the plunge.  Through the Toilet Replacement Rebate Program, we’ll give you $100 back when you install an eligible toilet as a replacement for your old 13L per flush (or greater) model.

• Rebates are limited to residential customers who are connected to the municipal water and/or sewer systems;

• New toilets must be purchased from a registered business and must be CSA approved with a flush volume of six litres or less and must replace toilets with a flush volume of 13L or greater.

• Toilets may be installed by the resident or a licensed plumber (simple toilet replacement does not require a permit).

• Your old toilet must be taken to the Sparwood Transfer Station and a signature from an attendant must be obtained.

• Your low-flow toilet must be purchased in 2011.

• Submission of an application does not guarantee a rebate – applications are evaluated and processed on a first-come first-served basis, while rebate quantities last.

To check rebate availability or to download an application form please visit our website

www.Sparwood.ca/rebates or pick one up at the District Office.

Knowing your street address

It is important to take the time to ensure you and everyone living in your home knows your physical street address.  Take the time to teach your children the correct spelling of your street name and make sure they can clearly relay your full address to others in the event of an emergency.  Dispatch for 9-1-1 relies on knowing the proper spelling of street names in order to correctly direct emergency personal.  If they are not given as much correct information as possible it could delay the response time for help to arrive.  If you have any questions about the correct spelling of your street please contact the District Office at 250-425-6271.

Sparwood is solar hot ready

Sparwood had joined the consortium of municipalities that have opted in on a provincial regulation that requires all new single family dwellings to be constructed with all the preparation required to use solar power to heat water for domestic hot water use.

Details on the regulations and what will be required are available on the CanSIA website www.cansia.ca/government-regulatoryissues/provincial/solar-ready or by contacting the planning and Engineering Department at 250-425.6830.

Fire pits and outdoor fireplaces

All fire pits and outdoor fireplaces require a permit, which is to be renewed on a yearly basis. Permits are available without fee, at the District of Sparwood Municipal Office.
