Griz Days welcomes visitors and locals for the biggest, snowiest 40th-anniversary celebrations!
Fernie’s annual winter carnival is a 3 day festival of fun-filled family-friendly events, activities, and entertainment. Highlights include:
- Yukon Blonde live on stage!
- Downtown Celebrations including 2nd Ave Parade and Fireworks
- Country Stomp with The Ken McCoy Band
- Extreme Griz Competition – great for participants and spectators alike!
- Rocky Mountain Lumberjack Show
- ParticipACTION 150 Playlist in honour of Canada’s 150th anniversary of confederation
- Raging Elk Dummy Downhill
Join the party in Fernie on the first weekend of March and see how Fernie celebrates winter! The Griz turns 40 in 2017, and the theme for this year’s event is ‘A Celebration of our Legacy.’
Griz Days is a true Fernie-wide event, happening at locations across town and at Fernie Alpine Resort. Loads of great events for participants and spectators, join in or drop by and cheer on a team. Many events are free!
The Griz is the central character for the weekend’s event, read all about how this mountain man came to be Fernie’s mascot and the symbol of winter.
Make sure to pick up your Griz Pin at locations around town for $3 or 2 for $5. Every pin is worth one entry into the contest to win $1000! See facebook page for details. Don’t be seen without your pin or you might be thrown in the Griz Jail along with Fernie’s Most Wanted!

| 8-10am | Pancake Breakfast | Community Centre | Get ’em while they’re hot! |
| 9am-2pm | Craft Fair | Community Centre | Free entry with your Griz Pin |
| 10am | Bridge Tournament | Senior’s Centre | $20, includes lunch |
| 10am | Garage Sale | Family Centre | Free admission |
