Free Youth Engagement in Communities workshop
Join Columbia Basin Trust (CBT) and BC Healthy Communities (BCHC) for workshops exploring youth engagement.
Two sessions are planned, with one in Cranbrook on Nov. 13 and another in Kimberley Nov. 14.
The workshops will explore:
• Why youth engagement is important and the roles of adults and organizations are;
• Strategies and processes that rural communities have used; and
• Practical tools for action.
The workshops will feature two facilitators – Deirdre Goudriaan and Michelle d’Entremont.
Goudriaan is an organizational, leadership and community development consultant who brings valued expertise to groups in the private and public sectors across Canada. In addition to other collaborations, she is an active member of the team at BC Healthy Communities, and works in partnership with the BC Healthy Living Alliance and 2010 Legacies Now.
Michelle is a dynamic youth engagement strategist and Basin Youth Liaison for Columbia Basin Trust. Among her many roles, she is responsible for providing support to youth and organizations in their applications to CBT’s Youth Grants, coordinating CBT’s Youth Advisory Committee and acting as editor for SCRATCH, CBT’s youth driven magazine.
Who should attend: Representatives from local governments and community organizations interested in exploring and developing youth engagement strategies.
The Cranbrook workshop is 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Manual Training School/Cranbrook Public Library and Kimberley’s is from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Kimberley Seniors Centre, in the lower level of Centennial Hall
