City has 78 full-time staff; a break down
A topic of great interest and speculation for Kimberley residents is the number of City of Kimberley staff. The city currently employs 78 full-time, six part-time, and five seasonal employees.
The Administration Department consists of four full-time staff: three administrative staff and one bylaw enforcement officer. There is one part-time animal control officer.
The Finance Department consists of 12 full-time staff: two financial officers, one human resources officer, one information systems coordinator, six finance and support staff, and two purchasers.
The Fire Department consists of three full-time staff: one fire chief, one assistant fire chief/prevention officer and one assistant chief/training officer. There are currently 27 paid on-call firefighters.
The Planning Department consists of three full-time staff: one manager, one planning officer, and one building inspector.

The Operations and Environmental Services Department consists of 34 full-time staff: one manager, one project coordinator, two engineers, two electricians, three mechanics, one utilities supervisor, seven water operators, three wastewater treatment operators, one roads supervisor and 13 roads and solid waste operators. There are three seasonal employees.
The Parks, Recreation, and Facilities Department consist of 17 full-time employees: one Manager, 10 caretakers, and six pool staff. There are two seasonal employees, five part-time pool staff, and several casual lifeguards.
The Operations and Parks and Recreation Departments share two full-time clerks.
The RCMP has two full-time police services assistants.
The Economic Development Department has one full-time manager.
The Kimberley Community Development Society (KCDS) is not included in the figures above, but consists of four full-time staff: two at the Conference Centre and two bookkeepers. There is one seasonal manager, three Cominco Gardens staff and 14 seasonal campground attendants.
Public Consultation Meeting for the 2015-2019 Financial Plan
The meeting will be held April 20, at 7 p.m. in council chambers. Written submissions are welcomed from those who cannot attend. The Financial Plan is available on the city website and hard copies are available at the front desk.
Gerry Sorensen Streetlights
The street lights on Gerry Sorensen Way from the Cenotaph to Norton Avenue will be out until further notice due to a motor vehicle accident that occurred on the weekend.
Park and Fields Spring Cleaning
The Parks Department is currently carrying out Spring cleaning and maintenance to all City of parks and playfields.
