Douglas Berard
1949 – 2015

It is with great sadness that we announce that after a courageous battle with cancer the passing of a beloved husband, father, son, brother and grandfather.

Doug leaves his loving wife of 41 years Janice; his children Tracey Tarasoff, Ryan and Kari (Jen); his many wonderful grandchildren, nieces and nephews; his mother Gladys; his brothers Terry (Janet) and Steven (Wendy); his sisters Carol Gallinger (Reg) and Linda Olsen (Mel), and brother in-law Dean Sekel. He was predeceased by his father Joeseph Berard.

Doug was an avid hunter, fisherman and camper. He worked at the Sullivan Mine for 34 years until it closed in 2001. He then continued to work in the mining industry for many more years – few matching his work ethic and dedication. He loved spending countless hours in his beautiful yard building and fixing things.

At Doug’s request there will be no service. Donations can be made in Doug’s honour to the: Canadian Cancer Society, 19 – 9th Avenue South, Cranbrook, British Columbia, V1C 2L9.
