On Monday, May 16, 2016, our loving mother and grandmother, Hilary Anna Sewell, passed away at the age of 83 years. Hilary was born in Belfast, N. Ireland on July 18, 1932 to parents Joseph and Violet Johnston.
The cornerstone of the Sewell family, Hilary’s life focused on the needs of her family. She nurtured them with unconditional love and support; her home was always a welcoming haven. Hilary enjoyed camping trips, and volunteering with many organizations. Hilary enjoyed sharing stories with family and friends. Her stories were her legacy and always left you with a smile on your face. In her later years, puzzles and knitting were also always close by.
In 2015, Hilary moved from Kelowna to Fernie, settling in at Rocky Mountain Village where she felt comfortable and welcomed by the staff and residents.
Hilary’s legacy of love will continue to live on within the hearts of all who loved her.
Hilary is survived by her children: Susan Lewis (Ray), Karen (Chris) Standish, and Robert (Michelle) Sewell; 7 grandchildren: Graham, Colin, Brian, Emily, Rebecca, Zac, and Gracie; 2 great grandchildren: Taya and Viktoria, and her brother Jim (Rosemary). She was predeceased by her parents, her brother Roy, and her husband John.
