August 1, 1924 – May 11, 2014

Jean was the oldest of three siblings born to Walter and Rosella Cunningham in St. John, New Brunswick. She is survived by her two brothers, Bill Cunningham of Toronto Ontario, and John Cunningham, of Bridgewater, Nova Scotia.

Jean married the love of her life, Herb Craik, in Moncton, NB, and their life adventure included work postings in Fundy National Park, NB, Whitehorse, YT, and High Level, AB and Grimshaw, AB.

Shortly after Herb’s passing, Jean moved to Devon, Alberta, then on to Kimberley, BC in 2004 to be closer to her only daughter, Lois.

Jean enjoyed being part of the community where she lived. She was a leader with Girl Guides of Canada in her early years, an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion, the Anglican Church Women’s group and an avid participant, until her passing, in her membership In the Order of the Eastern Star, which spanned almost 60 years.

Jean is survived by her daughter Lois (Gerry) Lafaut of Kimberley, BC, son Don (Marjorie), of Inuvik, NWT, as well as eight grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. As well, a special mention needs to be made of someone Jean always regarded and cherished as her “second” daughter, Fran Johansson of South Cooking Lake, Alberta. Jean’s zest for life knew no bounds, and her love of family and friends outshone whatever problems or ailments befell her in her later years.

Convicted in her Christian faith, Jean has now journeyed on to a new adventure. A Celebration Of Jean’s Life will be held at All Saints Anglican Church in Kimberley on Friday, May 16, at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Order of the Eastern Star, PO Box, 133, Kimberley, British Columbia, V1A 2Y5.
