Obituary:
Mary Mindek was born, September 20, 1930, and raised in Fernie BC.. After graduating high school, she went to work for the Trites-Woods Department Store in the accounting department. While still single, she was able to travel and see beyond the horizons of Fernie, but she always came home. The single life did not last long.
Mary’s mother, Anna, would tell the story of when John Mindek’s mother would come to visit. She told the infant John to rock Mary gently in her cradle…”you never know, you may grow up to marry her”. In 1952, Mary did in fact marry John Mindek.
For Mary, her home and her family meant everything and there was no sacrifice too great. After a long life with many tribulations, she spent her final years in her own home in Elko, BC surrounded by the family she cherished so much. She spent her final years as a “sweet elder lady”.
She will be missed.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Mary’s name to the Fernie Salvation Army.
