Obituary of Laverne Amelia Ankers

Laverne Amelia Ankers

October 18, 1931  –  December 8, 2025

It is with sadness we announce the passing of Laverne Amelia Ankers on December 8, 2025, at the Cranbrook Regional Hospital.

Laverne was born in Coalhurst, AB, the youngest of six children. Her family later moved to Lethbridge where she met her husband, Leonard. They spent time in Alberta then moved to the Maritimes before returning to Lethbridge and later Cranbrook.

Beginning as a child and continuing throughout her life Laverne was very musical. She sang, played the piano and organ along with composing hymns. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in various positions and played the church organ for over 40 years.

Laverne was predeceased by her husband, Leonard, her parents Muriel and Arthur Cunning and her siblings, Milton, Ralph, Gordon, Lois, and Bernice.

She is survived by her daughters, Kim Ankers (Gerry Goldberg) and Kathryn Weiss, her grandchildren, Michael Weiss, David (Alyssa), Michael (Elyse), Laura (Tom) and Carly (Evan) Goldberg, 4 great-grandchildren, and by numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held on Monday, December 15, 2025, at 11:00 am in Cranbrook, BC, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 2210 2nd St N., Cranbrook, B.C.
