Royce was born in Cranbrook BC, on September 24, 2010 to mother Stephanie Sam, and father Jean-Paul Askey.

Royce was a kid full of life. He was funny, bright, and always ready with a joke to make people smile. He had an enormous heart and a natural gift with younger kids, who were drawn to his kindness, generosity, and playful spirit. Royce loved to laugh, bring others happiness, and brought light into every room he entered.

Royce was a talented rapper, creative and expressive, and had big dreams for his future. Royce loved dirt biking, riding the quad, playing hockey, and building things. He dreamed of becoming a mechanic or a police officer one day.

Royce is lovingly remembered by his Mother Stephanie; Father Jean-Paul; Sister Skyla, Grandma Lynn; Uncles: Don (Mac) (Stella), Jeff (Nancy), and Chris; Aunties: Lana (Jeff), Michele, Kat (Mike), Anna, Pattie, Mel (Joao), Sam (Regan) and many other loving family members and friends.

Royce was a proud cousin to: Crystal, Donald, Chrissy, Amanda, Matthew, Josh, Mahalia, Malakai, Smokii, Alexandra, Tiara, Nathan, Aurora, Jordon, Magazu, Ta, Raoni, and many other family members; All of whom held a special place in his heart.

Royce was deeply loved, and his presence will be missed beyond words. Though his time with us was far too short, the joy, laughter, and love he shared will live on forever in the hearts of those who knew him.

The Wake will be held on Wednesday January 7th 5:00 pm at Columbia Lake Rec Centre, with Funeral Service to follow on Thursday January 8th 10:00 am, also at Columbia Lake Rec Centre. Following the Service, Burial will take place at Akisqnuk Cemetery with feast to follow back at Columbia Lake Rec Centre. If you have Orange or any sports jersey, please wear it. Edmonton Oilers was Royce’s favourite. If not, please wear whatever is comfortable for you.
