Obituary for Alfred Joseph Holmberg

Alfred “Joseph” Holmberg

Alfred passed away peacefully on April 5, 2018 in the F.W. Green Home. He was born in Winfield (Norbuck) Alberta to Frank and Irene Holmberg on October 24, 1940.

The family moved to the Cranbrook area when Alfred was a young child. Alfred met his wife Penny in 1965 and they were married on March 18, 1967. They moved to Kitimat shortly after and then to Terrace. Al worked at Alcan Aluminum in Kitimat for 2 years and in Terrace as a tree faller for 9 years. After they moved back to Cranbrook, Al worked as a faller, a conductor for the CPR, and then for The Lawn Doctor. He enjoyed camping and playing his guitar, spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also loved to go for walks with his dog.

Alfred was predeceased by his parents Frank and Irene and one brother John. He is survived by his wife of 51 years Penny, his children Debbie (Allen “Ozzy”), Violet (Russ), Donald (Vikki), 8 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, brother Arne (Irene), sister Nancy (Charlie), brother Ed (Linda), brother Terry (Donna), and he is also survived by many sisters, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff at the F.W. Green Home and Dr. Witten for their compassionate care.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, April 21, 2018 at The Scandinavian Lodge, 2720 4th Avenue South. Donations may be made to the East Kootenay Foundation of Health located in the hospital – ear marked F.W. Green Home.
