Obituary for Elaine Lucille Turnbull

JULY 17, 1930 – DECEMBER 14, 2018

Elaine Lucille Turnbull, nee Carragher, passed away, at 88 years old, on December 14, 2018 with family by her side.

She was born July 17, 1930 at Smokey Lake, Alberta, to James and Gladys Carragher. The family lived in the Warspite and Northbank, Alberta area for several years and then moved to their farm at Mann Lake (Ashmont), Alberta until 1941 when they moved to Kimberley. The rest of her life was spent in Kimberley and Marysville.

On June 30, 1949 she married Douglas Roy Turnbull and they spent the next 60 years together. Four children, six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren were welcomed into the family. Elaine enjoyed almost all handicrafts, playing cards, gardening, (in her own words) trying to golf and bowl five and ten pins, Jigsaw and cross-word puzzles. Camping was her favourte holiday of all.  She was a life member of the Order of the Royal Purple.

She is survived by daughter Margaret (Peter) Chursinoff, daughter Colleen (Dennis) Dudas, son David Turnbull, daughter Leora (Lorne) MacKinnon. Grandsons Peter and Nicholas (Randy) Chursinoff, Cameron (Mallory) MacKinnon. Granddaughters Jennifer (Scott) Kloberdanz, and Andrea (Shayne) Berglund. Great-grandsons Chandler McNeil and Ryder Chursinoff. Great-granddaughters Tyra Lamb, Kiana Kloberdanz, Mia Zwickel and Jaecie Chursinoff. Many nieces and nephews, many great-nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by her husband, her parents, only brother Vern Carragher, granddaughter Christy Chursinoff and Christy’s baby daughter Callie Jacob.

There will be a celebration of life in the spirng. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
