Obituary for Janet Liberta TOMBOSSO
Janet Liberta TOMBOSSO
November 24, 1936 – July 2, 2018
On Monday, July 2, 2018, Janet Liberta Tombosso passed away peacefully at the Elk Valley Hospital with family by her side. She was born in Port Alice, BC on November 24, 1936 to parents Theresa and “Mac” MacDonald.
Janet will be lovingly remembered by her daughters Terri (Dale and Gary), Allana (Paul), other “daughter” Lynette, (she always said she had 3 girls), grandchildren; Teri-Lyn, Remy (Kailey) and Zane, brother Donald (Diane) MacDonald, nephew Darren, nieces; Susan (Andy), Jennifer and their families and her best dog friend Luke. She was predeceased by her parents, husband Alexander (1994), and her son Dean (2015).
Janet worked at the Fernie branch of Sears for 28 years, was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 36 Ladies Auxiliary and also volunteered for the BC Heart and Stroke Foundation as well as the Mammogram Testing Service. She loved to travel and enjoyed the outdoors, going camping, gold panning, and picking berries and mushrooms. Janet also loved murder mysteries! Knitting was also a favored pastime when she wasn’t baking the “best” date squares and chiffon cakes.
Janet was a very caring person. She was never judgemental. Her door was always open to anyone and everyone in need of a cup of coffee and a good visit. She loved dogs and took in any stray that was brought home, and lovingly cared for them until their owner was found. If no one claimed the dog, Janet always did!
She will be greatly missed by all.
