Maria was born in Kerschdorf, Austria on October 22, 1929. She immigrated to Canada in 1954 and married Greg Binter in St. Mary’s Church in Cranbrook in November of 1954. She was a loving and caring person, devoted wife, mother and friend, always thinking of others first. “To know her was to love her.” Oma loved her grandson’s immensely; she always had meals and baked goods for family and friends. For the past three years Maria resided at Rocky Mountain Lodge in Fernie to be close to her family. It is with great sadness that we announce Maria’s passing on Thursday, October 11, 2018 at 88 years of age.

Maria is survived by her son Heinz (Jane) Binter of Fernie, her grandsons Chris Binter and Andrew (Krista) Binter, both of Calgary, her brother Franz Andritsch and her sister Hedi Miklautsch, both of Austria.

Maria was predeceased by her parents Johann and Maria Andritsch.

A funeral mass for Maria will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Cranbrook on Friday, October 19, 2018 at 1:00 pm. Her interment will follow in Westlawn Cemetery.
