Obituary for Olga Louise RAFFIN
Olga Louise RAFFIN
Olga Louise Lowe – Raffin passed away peacefully on March 4, 2019 at Rocky Mountain Village in Fernie. She was born November 21, 1927 in Natal BC, the youngest daughter of Verino and Luiga D’Angelo.
Olga was predeceased by husband Arthur Lowe (d. 1979) and by their son Robert Allen Lowe (d. 2002), also by her sister Lena Malinosky and brothers Guido and Efrin D’Angelo.
She will be lovingly remembered and missed by her children: Lodie Nickerson (Charlie), Ed Lowe (Myrna), Lois Chester (Gordie) and Tracy Patrickson (Jason), grandchildren Darren Nickerson (Cori), Darcie Musil (Kevin), Madison Lowe (Anthony Cridland), and great grandchildren Carlie Sundstrum and Jordyn Nickerson.
Olga and Arthur were married and moved from Natal to Sparwood in 1948 where together they raised five children. Life was filled with family outings to go fishing up the Elk Valley, camping at Rock Lake and Wasa Lake, game nights and visits with friends and family.
As a child Olga learned how to sew, knit and crochet. Her love of these skills stayed with her throughout her life; even in her 90’s she was making and selling dish cloths and hemming trousers.
When Olga remarried, she moved with her new husband, Vanilio Raffin, to Nanton, Alberta, and for many years she enjoyed sharing with her friends and family, all the delicious vegetables that she grew in her greenhouse. Vanilio passed away in 1990 and a few years later Olga moved back to her home town of Sparwood and into Lilac Terrace where she could always be counted on to lend a helping hand or to join in a game of cards. Olga also loved spending time with her best friend Gladys Musil.
Olga will be dearly missed by her large extended family and the many friends she made throughout her life. Her family will especially miss her farewell wishes of “Love you bunches”.
