Obituary of Arthur “Art” William PETERS
Arthur “Art” William PETERS
All through his younger years his chubbiness, constant smile and roaring laughter just drew everyone into him. He loved to show his aquodic skills around the outdoor pool. He always was one who loved to help. During his later high school days he worked at the local grocery store. Graduating in 1966, he soon became employed in the mine assayer lab. During his short stay at the mines, he was part of the Underground Mine Rescue Team. This steered him to a field of helping people in First Aid, starting as Firemen and Ambulance Attendant. He also instructed Standard First Aid Classes and high-level Industrial First Aid Classes. Through all these extras, Art continued with the Fire Department and became Fire Captain until his retirement. Above all, he loved working with wood and kept very busy in the shop he set up.
That “helping everyone attitude” has always stayed with him. His baking skills assisted Art as everyone that came by his home got baked goods, even the dogs. The neighbors were treated to many cookies, buns, and bread.
For the past 25 years each winter Art became a Snowbird. Heading to Yuma, Arizona to his winter home he loved so much. He never missed a karaoke night somewhere in Yuma, just belting out his country songs for all his fans that loved to hear his vocals.
Arthur spent many seasons in the Men’s Dart League, several bowling leagues, and loved to golf.
At his request there will be no services.
Many thanks to all who helped in many ways and especially to Dr. Soetaert for long service to Arthur.
