Audrey Chalmers
Audrey Wilkie was born and spent her early years in England, marrying Clouston Chalmers in 1954. In 1955, Clouston and Audrey emigrated to Canada and settled in northwest Ontario before relocating to Cranbrook in 1966.
Audrey was at first a stay-at-home mother to her 4 children and as the children grew up, she took on a job at the FW Green Clinic. She loved this job and worked with and met many lifelong friends during her time there. Audrey was a member of the Cranbrook Alliance Church for many years and will be remembered by friends from there and many children who attended Awana Kid’s Club where she volunteered.
Audrey loved to dance, and was an excellent ballroom dancer and later in life was a member of the Cranbrook clogging club.
After her husband passed away in 2014, Audrey moved into the independent side of Joseph Creek Care Village and then eventually into the full care side. She was always appreciative of the staff at Joseph Creek (as well as giving them a hard time), she told her family often that the “girls were really good here”.
Audrey was predeceased by her husband in 2014, and by her son Duncan in 2020. Audrey leaves to mourn her 3 children, Graham (Marj), Melissa (Bruce Hamm) and David (Nancy). Six grandchildren, Cheryl-Lynn, Shaydon, Jeffrey (Emily), Michael (Jordyn), Hannah and Max. She also has one great grandchild, Quinn, and two on the way.
Audrey had many family members in England, and was predeceased by her two brothers, Arthur and George, brothers-in-law, Graham, William and Jack. sisters-in-law, Mac, Sheila and Maureen, and nephew Keith. She leaves to mourn her English extended family whom she thought of often, and her best friend from Kelowna, Wilma Swail.
A Funeral Service will be held at McPherson Funeral Home at 2pm on Friday, April 10th, 2026.
