Obituary of Camille Anne Lauscher

Camille “Cam” Anne Lauscher

Camille Anne Lauscher, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully in Cranbrook on November 17, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Nanaimo on July 3, 1949, and remained deeply connected to Vancouver Island throughout her life.

Cam is predeceased by her husband, Frank; her mother, Thelma; and her father, Frederick. She is survived by children, Jason Lauscher (Amber) and Shannon Gray (Gavin); and her cherished grandchildren, Isabel, Oliver, Dashiell and Sylvie, who brought her immeasurable joy. Brothers Anthony and Michael and sister Doreen.

Cam worked for many years in the Walmart pharmacy in Nanaimo, where she was known for her kindness, dedication, and steady presence. Later in life, she devoted her time to meaningful volunteer work, giving back to the communities she loved. Cam especially enjoyed her time as a volunteer with the Kimberley Hospital Auxiliary Thrift Shop and treasured the friendships she formed there.

Family was the heart of Cam’s world. She was happiest when surrounded by those she loved, and she was especially grateful to witness her grandchildren grow and flourish. She had a deep appreciation for Indigenous art, local history, and a good scotch at the end of a long day. Although she spent the last decade living inland, her heart always remained on Vancouver Island and its rugged coastal beauty.

At Cam’s request, there will be no service or flowers. Those wishing to honour her memory may make a donation to the cancer charity of their choice, the Cranbrook Kimberley Hospice Society or the East Kootenay Foundation for Health.

She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
