Obituary of Cheryl Ann Greenwood

Cheryl Ann Greenwood (nee Wilson)

December 24, 1953  –  October 5, 2025

Cheryl was born on Christmas Eve, 1953 to Don and Agnes Wilson in Lillooet, BC. Her father’s teaching career saw her family in several BC locations before settling in Kelowna.

In 1972 Cheryl and David Merriam welcomed their daughter Jennifer into the world. Cheryl’s adventurous nature brought them to Kimberley, BC where in 1979 she met and later married Brian Greenwood and together they built a home and business.

Cheryl had a strong personality, a great sense of humor and was unafraid to laugh at herself. She was also very generous with her time – for her friends and community. Her friends knew they could call on her at any time for everything from a comforting shoulder in tough times to an unfiltered perspective on life events.

After a brief battle with cancer, Cheryl passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends, her shining light extinguished too soon.

Cheryl is predeceased by her parents Don and Agnes Wilson. She is survived by her husband Brian; daughter Jennifer (Earl); grandchildren Derek (Sierra), Cody (Jen), Btittni (Rhett); and 5 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Judy and brothers Jim, Wayne (Lorna), Alan and Drew (Tracie).

According to her wishes, the family will gather for a private service in the future.

A special thank you to the Palliative Care Team, both at the hospital and at home.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her name to the Kimberley Food Bank which she was passionate about, or the Kimberley Loan Cupboard.
