Obituary of Connie BERANEK
Connie BERANEK
It is with deep sadness that we bid farewell to Connie Anne Beranek after a courageous battle with cancer. On September 9, 2025, Connie’s journey came to a peaceful ending in the Elk Valley where she spent most of her life. She was born on September 19, 1965, in the Michel hospital and grew up on the Lower Elk Valley Road, calling Sparwood home.
Connie was predeceased by her father, Henry (Hank) who passed in 2024. She is survived by her mother, Marie; brothers: Neil, David, and Blaine (Elisha); nephews: Vance (Aly), Jacob, Bobby; nieces: Rayne (Brent) and Gracie; great-nieces: Harper, Jayne, Ridgely, and great-nephews, Weston and Ranger.
Connie attended Frank J elementary school in Sparwood and graduated from Sparwood Secondary school in 1983. She went on to graduate from Lethbridge Community College with a diploma in Business, before moving to Vancouver to carry on her education at Simon Fraser University (SFU), graduating with a teaching degree.
Upon graduating from SFU, Connie remained in the Lower Mainland working in various capacities.
She eventually returned to the Elk Valley where she spent much of her career working as an Educational Assistant helping students with disabilities and diverse abilities. Her love of children naturally supported her career and was the passion of her life.
Connie was an avid volunteer, helping with the Catholic Women’s League; the Sparwood Library; the Canadian Cancer Society; the Sparwood Food Share and multiple other charities. Never shy of work, Connie was fully committed to everything she partook in and did so with passion and conviction.
When not volunteering, Connie loved riding horses, especially in the Flathead, but mostly she loved spending time with her nieces and nephews, and playing with her great nieces and nephews. Her kindness toward children will be something she will always be remembered for.
There will be a funeral service at 11:00 am, Sept. 20th at St. Michael’s Catholic Church followed by a luncheon in the Parish Hall.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
