Obituary of David Lawrence Anderson
David Lawrence Anderson
With heavy hearts we announce the passing of David Lawrence Anderson, on August 22, 2025 at the age of 75.
David grew up in Markham, Illinois and started his millwright career at Wisconsin Steel. He made a bold move to Canada in 1980 after the steel mill closed down. He worked at Cominco in Kimberley, but also travelled to work at many other mines during shutdowns. He was a hard worker, someone who could think outside the box and come up with unique solutions. Eccentric, skilled, creative, and mostly self-taught, he had the ability to pick up new skills quickly, a trait that served him well in building his own home strictly by himself. He was stubborn, but behind that was a deep strength and fierce independence.
In his younger years he was a runner, pushing himself with the same quiet discipline. He loved music and dancing so much, that he built a dancefloor in his home.
David was strong willed, principled, and completely unique. He leaves behind not only memories, but an example of resilience, self reliance, and a life lived on his own terms.
David is survived by his children Beth Haris (Matt) and Ben Anderson (Andrea), grandchildren Montana (Glen), Cody, Joe, Dylan, Alex, Paige, Maddy, Payne, great grandchildren Jace, Lincoln, and Atlas, siblings Virginia Anderson, Gerry Anderson (Susan), Ken Anderson (Marilyn), Brenda Anderson, Karen Anderson, Laurel Anderson, as well as longtime partner Louyse Mongeon.
David was predeceased by parents Robert and Ruth Anderson, and daughter Crystal Anderson.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday August 29, 2025 at 3pm, at 1424 15th St S, Cranbrook, British Columbia.
