It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing our of beloved Nana, Mom, Mommy Honey and wife. Deborah Chovancak passed peacefully in her home on the morning of July 25, 2025.

Debbie was born in Calgary AB to Arthur Schultz and Edna Day on May 4, 1954. Debbie grew up in the loving company of her siblings at the Salvation Army in Calgary. After attending her high school graduation with the love of her life, Dusan Chovancak, they were married shortly after in 1973. They wasted no time in starting a family and welcoming their first child, Dusan Jr. in April of 197 4. Jennifer, their youngest followed in 1976. Debbie lived with her family in Calgary until 2016 when her and Dusan retired to their vacartion home in lnvermere, BC.

Debbie was a proud homemaker, mother, wife and hostess, often having large dinners with family from all across the world. Her door was always open, her arms always welcoming and a seat was left at the table for any who stopped by. Debbie was also extremely dedicated to her career, working 38 years at Wallace and Carey. Following her retirement, Debbie enjoyed spending her time in BC watching the hummingbirds, completing puzzles and enjoying quiet time with her family and Dusan. She will be forever missed for her contagious laugh, the light she brought to every room and the love she always had to give.

Debbie is survived by her husband of 52 years, Dusan Chovancak. Her two children, Dusan Chovancak Danelle and Jennifer Sierra Nicholas , and her four grandchildren Stefan Lily , Griffin Lauren , Joshua Charlotte and Brooke Ned . She will be deeply missed by her two sisters Yvonne Brian and Patricia Ken .

She is predeceased by her parents and her siblings: Ruby, Ron, Reg and Laura. .

A celebration of Debbie’s life will be held Mcinnis & Holloway 5388 Memorial Drive NE. Calgary, AB

On Wednesday August 6, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the

Funeral Home. The service will be streamed on Facebook Live for those that cannot attend.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Salvsation Army Calgary.
