Diana Colleen Johnston

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Diana Colleen Johnston on November 29, 2025. Raised in Claresholm AB where she met and married Orval, Colleen also attended nursing school in Calgary and became an LPN. They moved to Fort Nelson and eventually settled in Sparwood BC where they raised their children.

Colleen was extremely musical, able to play multiple instruments including piano, organ and accordion. She volunteered to play piano and organ for two different churches, always played for the children’s Christmas concerts and taught piano as well.

Colleen was a real 80’s supermom, making their home into a destination for their children’s friends. She loved spending time with friends, curling, camping and enjoyed time at their Wasa property where she and Orval eventually moved before ending up in Cranbrook. The family is grateful for the care Colleen received from the staff at Joseph Creek for the last 19 years.

She is survived by Orval, her husband of 56 years, sons Jason (Dee) and Shane (Paula), grandchildren Sarah (Jordan), Haylee, Mitch and Libby (Paul), and her half sister Deanna.

Colleen was predeceased by her parents David and Betty and her mother Lorna.
