Obituary of Donald HARRAD

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Don Harrad on February 1, 2026, after a brief illness, at the age of eighty-nine. He was surrounded by family, at the Elk Valley hospital.

Don was born on May 2, 1936, to Ivy and Albert Harrad in Fernie, B.C and was raised on a small farm in Cokato. Don married the love of his life, Ida Corrigan, on July 2, 1960 and they enjoyed many years together until moms passing on October 3, 2012.

Don worked for the Crowsnest Pass Coal Company, the MF&M shops as a machinist and later on transferred to the Elko Sawmill where he remained until his retirement.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, huckleberry picking, and watching the Toronto Blue Jays. He was a lifelong member of the Fernie Elks Lodge and a member of the Fernie Legion.

Don was predeceased by his loving wife, Ida; dad, Albert; mom, Ivy; only brother, Art; brother in laws: Harry, William, Owen, and Ron; sister-in-law, Isabella and her husband, William Henderson; nephew, Keith and niece, Judy.

Left to mourn his passing are Donald Harrad, Shauna (Brian) Stimpson, Marlo Harrad (Steve Cawdell); grandchildren: Casey (Dean), Amanda and Chris Cawdell, Zack and Logan Stimpson, and sister-in-law, Cecilia Corrigan along with great granddaughters; Izabella, Oriah, Brynleigh and Haven and numerous nieces and nephews.

Family was the most important thing to Dad. He enjoyed all the family get togethers we had with him. We love you Dad and will miss you, may you forever fly with the angels.
