Obituary of Edith BENETTON
Edith BENETTON
EDITH MARJORIE (McFee) BENETTON
It is with deep love and sadness that we announce the passing of Edith Marjorie Benetton (nee McFee), affectionately known by her family as Bubbles or Aunty Bubs, on August 14, 2025, at Rocky Mountain Village in Fernie, B.C.
Edith’s happy-go-lucky spirit and warm smile touched all who knew her; she also had a sassiness that made people love her even more.
Edith was born in Nelson, B.C. and grew up in Fruitvale, where she developed a love for sports, especially fastball—where she shone as a first baseman—and gymnastics, where her flips were always admired. On January 23, 1961, she married the love of her life, Leno Benetton, in Colville, Washington. Together they built a beautiful life, living in Trail, Castlegar, Nelson, and Fruitvale before settling in Elkford in 1972, where they remained until Leno’s retirement. They then moved to Sparwood to take care of their grandchildren, Jenna and Joseph.
She was a proud member of the Elkford Royal Purple and Sparwood Seniors’ Society. Edie enjoyed the simple joys of life: crocheting, cheering on the Blue Jays, and playing Bingo—which often meant road trips with Leno by her side. She also enjoyed camping at the Koocanusa Marina, where she made many long-lasting friendships, and together with Leno, worked every summer helping out the Cutt’s family.
Edith was predeceased by her parents, Scotty and Margorie McFee; her brothers, Dick, Bob, and Ken; and her sister, Pat Armstrong.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Leno; her loving daughter, Debbie (Barry); her cherished grandchildren, Jenna (Mike Kaus) and Joseph DeLuca; and her two great-grandchildren, Cohen and Connor Kaus.
Edith will be remembered for her smile, her kindness, and her joyful outlook on life. She was “Bubbles” in every sense—bringing lightness and cheer wherever she went.
A celebration of Edith’s life will include immediate family only and will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to Lilac Terrace would be greatly appreciated.
