Obituary of Elizabeth Louisa SULLIVAN

Elizabeth Louisa SULLIVAN

April 22, 1942 ~ August 28, 2023 (age 81)

Elizabeth Louisa Sullivan (Lou) died suddenly and peacefully at home on Aug 29, 2023 from congestive heart failure. She was born April 22, 1942 in Cranbrook, BC.

She is survived by her partner Mary, one sibling Susan (Frank), nieces Julia and Laurel and one nephew Paul (Darci) plus grand-niece Reese. Also remembering Louisa will be many friends locally and across North America.

Louisa worked as a nurse in various parts of Canada and a nanny/nurse in England as well as a brief spell as an ESL teacher in China. Travelling was her great joy and she visited most continents. Another life-long interest was Girl Guides, from her decoration as a Gold Cord guide at age 16 to a leader and board member for many years.

She moved to Fernie in 1980 and was thrilled to realize she could get a five year ski pass! After retiring from hospital nursing here in 1999 she carried on involving herself in the community as volunteer for the Red Cross, musician for Knox United Church and care homes, Library board member and community garden helper.

A Celebration of Life will be held later in the fall. Cremation will have taken place with ashes interred beside her parents in Westlawn Cemetery in Cranbrook.
