Obituary of Gloria Baytaluke

Gloria BAYTALUKE

June 3, 1930 ~ October 15, 2023 (age 93)

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our loving mother Gloria Baytaluke on October 15, 2023. She went peacefully in the comfort of her lovely Lilac Terrace home.

Gloria was born in Arran, Saskatchewan on June 3, 1930. She was predeceased by her parents Prokip & Olga Sikora, her husband of 52 years John, brothers-in-law Benny, John, Mike, and Frank, her brother Harry, sisters-in-law Helen, Annie, Ann, and Mary, and nieces Anna, Marie, and Pauline.

She leaves 8 children to treasure her memories: Pat & Bill Weibel (Lethbridge AB), Sonny & Karen Baytaluke (Calgary, AB), Randy & Shelley Baytaluke (Shuswap, BC), Darlene & Brian Seaman (Blairmore, AB), Harold & Melanie Baytaluke (Sparwood, BC), Marilyn & Greg Hallewell (Shuswap, BC), Candice & Ed Allen (Kamloops, BC), Cheryl & Trevor Beswick (Hudson Hope, BC), and her honorary son John Gulka (Kelowna, BC). Gloria will be deeply missed by her grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and especially by her sisters Pauline Shevernoha and Violet Kluk. She will also be dearly missed by her dear friends and neighbours in Sparwood, and her most loving, kind, and wonderful Lilac Terrace family; they will definitely miss the fabulous aromas of Mom’s amazing home cooking! The celebrations around her table are legendary!

Gloria led a full and satisfying life always surrounded by joy, love, and laughter with a good bit of stubbornness when required! The friends of her children referred to her as Mrs B – and they just loved her and the delicious food she shared. The children caused just enough trouble to keep Mom on her toes! She was extremely proud of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

We want to sincerely thank Dr Radar for his outstanding care of Mom over the years. And a huge shout out to Sarina at Remedy RX for going over and above for all Mom’s needs. Also heartfelt thanks to the most incredible home care team and a gold star hairdresser who became such a dear friend.

While Mom was deeply loved by her entire family, and all members did what they could when they were able. Spending time with Mom was the best! We would be remiss if we didn’t acknowledge the daily love, care and support delivered by Harold and Darlene. This enabled Mom to continue to live independently in a home she loved.

Gloria felt truly blessed and her kind heart and gentle spirit will be deeply missed.

Cremation will be held. At Mom’s request her family is to gather to eat, drink, laugh and bicker – just like every Baytaluke Party, and to celebrate her life and honour her in the best way possible way.

You and Dad stay out of trouble over there! Love you always.
