It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Heather Myrne Rice (nee McGregor) on June 10, 2025, in Creston, BC, at the age of 82 years.

Heather was a longtime resident of Cranbrook, BC. Born in Trail & raised with her brother Ken in Beaver Falls. In her younger years Heather was an enthusiastic softball player. She worked in Cranbrook through her adult life at the old Supervalue Bakery, as a clerk at the BC Assessment Authority and finally retired from Real Estate sales to work full time in her beautiful gardens.

Heather was an avid outdoorswoman, spending many of her days with family and friends camping, fishing, trapping & walking the Kootenays with her dogs Brandon and Tucker. Heather and Gordon married in 1991 and together they spent many happy years travelling, hosting friends and family, and enjoying all life has to offer.

Heather was a skilled artist and cook. She loved to share a glass of wine & have a visit with friends and loved ones.

Heather was predeceased by her parents Harry & Velma McGregor, husband Gordon Rice, and son Cam Ratcliffe.

Heather will be lovingly remembered by her daughters Marnie Dingman and Kelly Pengelly, daughter-in-law Bonnie Ratcliffe, stepdaughters Jody (Frank) Farrah and Heidi (James) Vania, grandchildren Delainey, Spencer, Cody, David, and Lynden, as well as nephew Dale McGregor.

In lieu of flowers please plant a tree – as Heather loved “the bush” as well as a beautiful yard and garden.

A celebration of life will take place in August – Date to be announced.
