Obituary of Joan Lorraine Haddad
Joan Lorraine Haddad
With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Joan Lorraine Haddad nee Cherbo of Cranbrook BC on June 25, 2025 at the age of 83. Less than a month shy of her 84th birthday.
Joan was the eldest daughter of Pietro (Pete) and Gorizia (Grace) Cherbo of Sirdar, BC.
After graduating from the Prince Charles Secondary School in Creston BC, Joan soon moved to Cranbrook for work and lived with her Aunt and Uncle. At that time her Uncle Mike was working at Haddad & Gartside Motors and introduced his niece to the boss’s son, Wayne Haddad.
Wayne and Joan fell in love and were married March 30, 1961 in the United
Church in Cranbrook. Joan said she only married him because he let her drive his car…lol.
Joan had an eye for perfection in everything she did, whether it was bookkeeping or sewing/quilting. A true artist with colourful fabric or old fur coats, that were made into teddy bears.
Wayne and Joan took Cora and Wanda on many vacations; from roughing it in the wilderness of Northern BC while salmon fishing – where Joan was washing the families clothes in a river, to being part of a group from Cranbrook that chartered a 727 to Orlando, Florida to enjoy Disney World. There were trips to Disney Land, Las Vegas and Nashville. And too many camping trips in the Kootenays to count! Joan was not fond of flying, so many of the trips were taken by hooking up a travel trailer to the station wagon or passenger van or in a motorhome.
As beloved wife, mother, grandmother and big sister, Joan will be deeply missed. Family and friends will cherish the many memories of fulfilling life.
Survived by daughters Cora Tschetters (Cecil) and Wanda Haddad, Grandson BJ (Robert) McLuckie, Brother Robin Cherbo (Colleen Driscoll), Brother In Law Udo Fiebig and Sister In Law Carol Milburn.
Step grandchildren Steven Tschetters & family, Liz Folino & family, Katherine Tschetters & family, and Dorian (Chris) Kernaghan & family.
Joan was predeceased by her loving husband Wayne Haddad, her parents Pietro (Pete) & Gorzia (Grace) Cherbo, sister Sharon Fiebig and sister in law Joan Stockton.
A Celebration of Life in Joan’s honour will be held at McPherson Funeral Home, Cranbrook, on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at 1:00 pm.
The Celebration will be live-streamed and recorded. Please see Joan’s obituary page for the link.
