Obituary of Joan Mary Unruh
Joan Mary Unruh (Miller)
Joan passed away on July 5, 2025, after living with Alzheimer’s disease for the last 11 years. Joan was born in Blaine Lake Saskatchewan on January 2, 1937. She and her family moved to Kimberley BC when she was 4 years old. Joan fell in love and married her best friend Abram Unruh in 1959, they built their life in Marysville and raised their two girls Susan and Marcie. Joan was trained as a teacher in Normal School and worked in the Kimberley School District over the next 40 years. She truly loved to teach, but her greatest passion was for the Bible, and she became one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1957. Joan loved people and willingly shared her hope for the future with all she met.
Joan was pre-deceased by her husband Abram, her father Robert Miller, her mother Eugenia Miller, and her sister Evelyn Simon.
She is survived and greatly missed by her daughters Susan (Darren) Baerg, and their children Kyle, Mason, and Lauren; her daughter Marcie (Cam) St. Jean and their daughter Maija; her siblings Alan (Marni) Miller; Jean (Ernie) Funk; Gloria (Lou) Rogers; Fred (Char) Miller; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held for Joan on Saturday July 12, 2025, at 2:00pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness. (665 – 304th St Marysville, BC).
