Obituary of Mark Thomas Magotiaux
Mark lived in Regina following high school, working in Safeway and PicNPac, then moved to Lethbridge Alberta to work for Investors Syndicate. It was in Lethbridge that he met Fairy, and in 1979, he, Fairy, daughters Colleen and Carrie moved to Cranbrook, B.C. , where he became territory manager for the BC Lottery Corp. until retirement. Mark and Fairy were blessed with son Brandon in 1988.
Mark was an avid sportsman, playing junior hockey when in Redvers, and in Cranbrook was involved in coaching t-ball to baseball, rep hockey, and soccer, for Brandon. He loved camping, boating, curling, hiking, travel, playing piano and dancing, going on family vacations and international travel, and taking family photos. He also was an active member of the Kinsmen Club of Cranbrook. Above all, Mark loved his children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, laughing, joking and always teasing!
Mark lost his battle with ALS at the Cranbrook Regional Hospital 9 October 2023. He is survived by his wife Fairy; daughter Colleen (Stephen) granddaughters Kaitlyn and Meghan; son Brandon and grandson Mason. He is also survived by his brothers Armand (Michele), David (Erna), Real (Deb), Michael (Gerry), John (Heather), James (Caroline) and sister Susan (Barry); sisters-in-law Rei (Rob), and Carol (Jim); brother-in-law Bruce (Eileen), and many beloved nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Firmin and Julia, his parents-in-law Alf and Evelyn, daughter Carrie, nephew Jonathan, and niece Jill.
The family would like to thank the exceptional care and support provided by the specialists, doctors, nurses, and staff of the Cranbrook Regional Hospital as well as ALSBC, local IHA and the Kootenay Medical Supply staff.
For those interested, the family suggests that in lieu of flowers, a donation be made to your local or provincial ALS Society.
