Norma FERGUSON
Norma is predeceased by her parents, sisters Marion and Isabel, brothers Rob and Jim, husband Bob, and daughter Tara. She is survived by daughters Missy (Trevor), Tracy (Al), son-in-law Dana; grandchildren Alicia, Caiti (Ross), Allie, Brayden, Rachel (Brad), Michaela, Dalton (Mina); great-grandchildren Kinslee, Leyton, and Johnny and many nieces, nephews, friends, and adopted family.
When she was 6 months old Norma moved with the family from Raymond to the South Country in a covered wagon. They moved around to various places around the area, following Rob’s sheep, before settling on the Durham Ranch in Jaffray. Norma went to school in Jaffray and Waldo and was a part of the last graduating class of Waldo. After graduation, Norma went to hairdressing school and did this on the side for many years. Norma and Bob married on November 12th, 1966, in Jaffray, BC and were married for 57 years. Later, Norma worked as a cook at various restaurants before working at the Fernie hospital and working her way up to head cook before retiring in 2000. After retirement, Norma enjoyed decorating cakes, playing darts, scorekeeping softball, sewing, crocheting, baking, gardening, and canning. Norma competed at the Senior’s Summer Games for Darts for many years as a part of the Legion where she was a member for 46 years.
Norma’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank-you to neighbors Gen and Adam, Blake and Jenna, Bob and Helen, and Andrew.
Norma will be remembered for her green thumb, excellence in the kitchen, and love of hummingbirds. In the last several years, Norma deemed herself ‘The World’s Best Putterer’ and kept herself very busy.
