Rickey Leon REID

April 3, 1957 ~ September 17, 2022 (age 65)

Rickey Leon Reid passed away peacefully on September 17, 2022, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on April 3, 1957, in Oxford, Nova Scotia.

Rickey left Nova Scotia in the summer of 1965 to come to British Columbia with his mother, auntie, and siblings, where his father had resided in Cranbrook. Rickey also chose to live in Cranbrook and throughout the Elk Valley. He was well-known for his racecar driving in Cranbrook and his cattle penning events in Sparwood. Rickey was the founder of Mangled Radiators in 1982, which is still operational today and owned by his son, Rickey Jr.

He soon married his beloved wife, Rosemarie, in 1984. After retiring from Mangled Radiators, he developed Reid’s Bobcat Service and could be found plowing snow at all hours, day, or night. Rickey also enjoyed many outdoor activities, including horseback riding, fishing, hunting, camping, side-by-siding, jet skiing, and watching his sons Rickey and Robbie in the demolition derbies.

He was predeceased by his parents, Arlin and Jessie, his brothers Gary and Donny, and his sister Diane. Rickey is survived by his wife Rosemarie, his children Rickey and Robbie (Kyla), and his grandchildren, Kaylee and Dalton. He is also survived by his brothers: John (Judy) in Nova Scotia, Brian (Georgia) in White Court, AB, Jack (Debbie) in Sparwood, Barry (Tammy) in Jaffray, Greg in Yahk, Kevin in Creston, and Kenny in Manitoba, and sisters Sharon (Ken) in Creston, Margaret in Cranbrook, and Geneva (Jim) in Cranbrook as well as many nieces, nephews, his brothers and sisters-in-law..

Should friends so desire, donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, the Heart & Stroke Foundation, or to the Kidney Foundation.
