Obituary of Roy Allan Reid
Roy Allan Reid
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Roy Allan Reid on August 2, 2025. Roy passed away peacefully after a short battle with cancer, in the comfort of his home and surrounded by his very loving family.
Roy Reid was born in Kimberley, BC on April 10, 1954. He was the third child to Pat and Zoe Reid. Roy grew up in Kimberley along side his brother and life long best friend, Jim, and his big sister Shirley.
Family was everything to Roy, from when he was a child through his last days. Roy raised his four children at the home and hobby farm he built in Gold Creek. He loved being a dad and spending all his free time with his kids, teaching them everything he knew…and he knew A LOT. He shared his many passions with them, especially his love of the great outdoors. He was a very proud Father and Grandfather.
It was rare to ever find Roy indoors; he was a mountain man. There’s no where else Roy would have wanted to live other than the Kootenays where he could walk out his door and do everything he loved to do. He spent his days hunting, fishing, camping and hiking. Roy was a cowboy through and through and if he wasn’t riding his horses through the mountains he was following his dreams in the arena, roping or cattle penning.
It was later in life that he met his loving wife Lise, who became his riding, hunting and fishing partner, enjoying 15 years of friendship and love. He retired in 2019 after 42 years of a loyal career with Inland Kenworth. The next 6 years were spent doing everything he loved and never slowing down.
Roy is survived by his loving wife Lise Reid, his children Jennifer Adaarewa (Tasher), Jared Reid (Courtney), Bethany Foreman (Jordan) & Aaron Reid (Mikayla), stepchildren Lori Johansen (Shane), John Johansen (Toni), grandchildren Bella, Jude, Jayden, James, Benjamin, Brixton, Atlyn, Nathan, Luke & Jackson, step grandchildren Jade (Ashton) & Chase, his brother Jim Reid (Flo) & brother In law Roger Oliver (Judy), as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents Pat & Zoe Reid, and his sister Shirley Oliver.
A Celebration of Roy’s life will be held on August 16, 2025 from 2 – 4pm at his home in Gold Creek. 4200 49th Street S, Cranbrook BC.
In lieu of flowers please consider donation to The Wild Horses of Alberta Society in Roy’s memory.
