Sheila Ann” Margie McMahon

Margie was born on November 19, 1934, in Maple Creek, Saskatchewan. She was the middle child of Ernest and Mary Henry’s eleven children. On September 5, 1953, Margie married Raymond McMahon, and together they started their family of four.

In April 1967, Mom earned her Licensed Practical Nurse certification at St. Eugene Hospital, beginning her 41-year career of caring for others. She had a wonderful sense of humor and a deeply caring nature, which led to countless friendships over the years. Mom began her nursing journey at St. Eugene Hospital, caring for babies and children, later moving to the medical and surgical wards. She spent her final ten years as an Operating Room Technician—a busy time she loved for its challenges and rewards.

Some of Mom’s favorite adventures included camping in the bush with Dad, taking up golf (where she even scored a hole-in-one at Mission Hills), and enjoying countless card games and laughter with her beloved “Crib Group.” Margie loved to dance whenever she had the chance and also found joy in singing in the church choir and helping with the children there.

Margie embraced life fully, and her greatest priority was always her family. She cherished time spent visiting and laughing with her brothers and sisters, but her heart was happiest during family dinners when everyone was together. Mom was endlessly generous with her time, always there for her kids, and she especially shone when spending time with her grandchildren—playing games, sharing stories, and hosting sleepovers.

Margie is survived by her loving family:
Jerry (Kathy) and their children Heather, Meghan, and John;
Terry (Cheryl) and their family;
her daughters Peggy and family, Scott and Ryan; and Lori and her dog, Jiggs;
as well as her three great-grandchildren, Tessa, Jillian, and Henry.
She is also survived by her sisters Marilyn Bristle, Gwen McMahon, and Delma Shoaf.

Margie spent her final five years at the F.W. Green Home, where she was cherished by staff for her spirited personality, quick wit, and kind heart. The family is deeply grateful for the compassionate care she received there.

A funeral service for Margie will be held on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. at the New Apostolic Church, 821 1st Street South, Cranbrook.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the BC Alzheimer Society.
A celebration of life will be held in the spring for those unable to attend the service.
