Obituary of Shelley Marlene Stadnick

Shelley Marlene Stadnick (Pearson)

Shelley passed away peacefully on January 23, 2026, in Cranbrook, British Columbia, with her loving family by her side.

Shelley was born on December 10, 1953, in Kimberley, BC, the youngest of three daughters born to Al and Thelma Pearson. She spent her childhood in Kimberley before moving to Cranbrook, where she married the love of her life, Bill Stadnick, at the age of 19. Together, they built a beautiful life and raised two daughters.

Throughout her working years at Zellers and later HSBC, Shelley formed many lasting friendships that she cherished deeply. She was known for her kindness, her easy laughter, and her ability to make people feel welcome.

Shelley was a devoted wife, a loving mother, a proud grandmother, and a loyal friend. In her younger years, she enjoyed playing slow pitch, traveling, camping, and embracing life with joy and fun. Her love of camping stayed with her throughout her life, and for the past 30 summers she could be found at Koocanusa—her happy place.

Above all else, Shelley’s greatest joy was her grandchildren. She took immense pride in watching them grow and celebrating every accomplishment, big or small, and she never missed an opportunity to tell others how proud she was of them. Her love for her dogs and granddogs was unmistakable, and they were a constant source of happiness and comfort in her life.

Shelley is lovingly remembered by her husband, Bill Stadnick; her daughters, Tanya Lancaster (Ian Clarke) and Tara Stadnick; and her grandchildren, Jace Stadnick (Rachel), Maddy, and Ben. She is also survived by her sisters, Vicky Holmes and Teresa Pearson, along with extended family and many dear friends.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the palliative care team, as well as Dr. Mah, Dr. McIver and Dr. Amstutz, for their compassionate care and support.

A celebration of Shelley’s life will be held in the spring or early summer.
