Shirley ASHMORE

Shirley Ashmore (nee Strong) passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Dec 10, 2023. She was born April 3,1935.

Shirley was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Wilfred in 2014; son, John David in 1987; her parents John and Margaret; brothers Everett and Stan; and sisters Alice and Violet, along with various nephews and nieces.

She leaves to cherish her memories Sharon (Jerry) Teeple, Doug (Laurie) Ashmore, Kim (Al) Malone; grandchildren Amanda Bruintjes (Matt), Ryan, and Randy Teeple; great-grandchildren Jaden, Noah and Paisley. She will be missed by many other relatives and friends.

Shirley and Wilfred were married in 1959. Shirley grew up in Fernie and went to post-secondary school at the University of Saskatoon, for nursing. She returned to Fernie to begin her nursing career at the Fernie Memorial Hospital. Shirley finished her career as Director of Nursing at the Fernie District Hospital.

Her greatest pleasure was spending time with her family, travelling, and connecting in various ways with nature.

There will be a private celebration of her life at a later date.

The Ashmore family would like to thank Dr. Loewen and the staff at the Cranbrook hospital, and the staff at the Fernie hospital, for the wonderful care given to Shirley.
