Obituary of Steven Craig MacKay
Steven Craig MacKay
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Steven Craig Mackay, in the Cranbrook Regional Hospital, after a brief illness.
Steve was a hardworking, kind-spirited man whose warmth, humour, and quiet strength touched everyone who knew him.
He spent his career working underground at the Kimberley Mine until its closure. He then traveled across Canada and Internationally before retiring, and returned to his hometown of Kimberley.
He found joy in the simple but meaningful parts of life—fishing, camping, and spending time in nature. These moments brought him peace and were among his most cherished memories.
Steve was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, son, and friend.
His memory will be cherished by his daughter Erin, and his granddaughter Brodie.
Steve was born the eldest child of Robert & Janet, and was a brother to Phil, Rob (Linda), Christie (Rob), and Myrna (Jamie); a step brother to numerous siblings; and an uncle to many niece and nephews.
He is predeceased by his beloved wife, Dianna with whom he shared a lifetime of laughter, love and partnership. May their reunion bring comfort to those who knew their love.
Steve passed peacefully, with his daughter by his side, and he will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew him.
Family and friends are invited to come together to honour Steve, share their memories, and celebrate the man he was.
A Celebration of Life will be held on December 5th at 2:00 PM at McPherson Funeral Home in Kimberley, B.C.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Steve’s memory can be made to the MS Society.
