Obituary of Thomas Michael Woloshansky
Thomas Michael Woloshansky
Born on February 14, 1956, in Vernon, BC, Tom was affectionately known as Tommy during his youth and Wally during his time in the Canadian Navy. He joined the Canadian Forces in 1975 and proudly served his country in the Navy until his retirement in 1996.
Following his military service, Tom and his family made their home in Kimberley, BC, where he remained until his passing. In his post-Navy life, Tom served the community as the Animal Control Officer in Kimberley and later as a guard in the city cells for the City of Cranbrook.
Tom was known for his quick wit, generous spirit, and genuine kindness. A lover of books, he was always ready with a clever joke or thoughtful insight. He enjoyed taking trips.—particularly when he had his motorcycle. He cherished adventures to places like Las Vegas, the BC coast, and even Ukraine, where he embraced the culture and history with enthusiasm.
Tom is survived by his daughter Kelly of Surrey, BC, and his brother Paul (Nancy) of Calgary, Alberta. He was predeceased by his mother, Edith.
In keeping with Tom’s wishes, there will be no funeral or formal service.
Those who wish to honour Tom’s memory are invited to consider a donation to The Last Post Fund—which provides dignified funerals and burials for Canadian Veterans—or to the Canadian Cancer Society.
