Vincenzo “Vince” Sacino
It is with great sadness that the family of Vincenzo (Vince) Sacino announce his passing on June 22, 2025.
Vince was born 100 years ago in Ruvo del Monte, Potenza, Italy on May 16, 1925. He emigrated to Canada in October 1951 and eventually settled in Cranbrook. After finding work here in town, he went back to Italy, got married and returned to Cranbrook to start a family.
Later in life he met and married Irma and they shared 48 years together.
In his early years, Vince worked for CP Rail and had various stucco and construction jobs before working for the City of Cranbrook for 22 years, retiring at the age of 60.
Vince was a very healthy man and enjoyed fishing, bocci, listening to and playing the accordion and always enjoyed a good party. He was very social, friendly and well known in Cranbrook as he loved talking to people around town sharing stories, jokes and laughter with anyone that would listen. A devout Catholic he was also well known in his church community and participated in mass every Sunday. Having recently celebrated his 100 th birthday he was truly touched to see all his relatives and friends in attendance that came to celebrate with him.
Vince was pre-deceased exactly one month ago by his loving wife Irma, and just 3 days after sister Carmela Briuolo. He was also predeceased by his brothers Joe, and Gerardo and sister Rosa Graziano. He leaves to mourn his brother Armando (Anna) in Italy, brother-in-law Mike Graziano and sister-in-law Antonietta Sacino as well as numerous family and extended family members.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Friday June 27th at 11:30am.
Entombment will be at the Westlawn Mausoleum.
A reception in the Church Hall will follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the charity of your choice.
