Our beautiful, courageous Mom, Grandma, Aunt and Friend peacefully passed away on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at the Elk Valley Hospital in Fernie, B.C.

Shirley was diagnosed in January 2017 with Angiosarcoma, a rare form of cancer. She had a short, yet long, valiant fight with cancer. With the new chemo treatment she enjoyed an excellent quality of life and more time with those she loved the most, her children and their families.
Shirley was born in Hudson Bay Junction, SK, after receiving hairdressing certification in Regina, SK, she jumped on a plane to Mayo, Yukon to work at the Silver Inn. Shirley married and had three children, moved to Dawson City, Yukon and worked in the Mining Recorder for 25 years. Shirley then moved to Fairbanks (Alaska), Whitehorse, Yukon, Ladysmith, Squamish and Sparwood (B.C.) where she stayed for her remaining days.

Shirley is survived by her Children, Steven (Dalores) Van Bibber of Dawson City, Yukon; Shane (Monique) Van Bibber of Sparwood, BC; Shannon (Tim) Van Bibber of Whitehorse, Yukon and her Grandchildren, Kristin (Jeremy), Kurtis (Cheyenne), Alysha, and Tanis Van Bibber; her boy Benson; her Nephews Darrell Smith of Edmonton, AB and Dean Smith of Saskatoon, SK; Aunt Elsie Sherry of Nipawin, SK; and many loved nieces and nephews in the Yukon.

She is predeceased by her Mom, Evelyn Myhr; Brother, Doug Smith and her boy, Oliver.
Thank you to Dr. Paul Michal, nurses and staff at the Elk Valley hospital; Fernie and Sparwood paramedics for your care and support; Dr. Meghan Illingworth in Squamish; and Dr. Sasha Smiljanic at the Lions Gate Hospital for Shirley’s treatment of her cancer.

Mom, we pray for your safe journey home, we love you and we will miss your wit, humour and laughter.
