Svea Maria Nicol

1930 – 2017

It is with deep sorrow that the family of Svea Nicol announce her passing on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at East Kootenay Regional Hospital in Cranbrook with her family by her side.

Svea was born in Sweden on May 9, 1930. She moved to Canada where she married James Nicol and they had three children together. Svea and James worked together in their automotive store Four Seasons Auto for many years. Svea had a great love for her family and friends. She enjoyed sewing and crocheting in her spare time and was a member of the Mount Zion Lutheran Church in Cranbrook.

Svea is survived by her son Douglas, her daughters Janice, Brenda (John) Johnson, her grandchildren Joey (Lindsay) Johnson, Jeremiah, Jesse, Sarah and Danielle Cooper, her sister Adela Tinnis, her nieces Arlene Pasey and Barbara Witt, her nephews Raymond Garlough and Rose Garlough and their families.

Svea was predeceased by her husband James and her parents Anna-Maria and Andreas Tinnis.

A visitation for Svea will be held at McPherson Funeral Home in Cranbrook on Thursday, November 16, 2017 from 7:00 pm until 9:00 pm. Her memorial service will be held at Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in Cranbrook on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at 1:00 pm. Those wishing to make a memorial donation in honour of Svea may do so to the Canadian Red Cross, 340 – 1311 2nd Street North, Baker Street Mall, Cranbrook, BC, V1C 3L1.
