Terrance “Terry” LONG

Terrance “Terry” Kerne Long was born December 17th, 1943, to William & Mary (Mabel) Long in Cut Knife, SK. He moved to Salmon Arm in the 60’s where he was a millwright at the local lumber mill.

Terry met Rose, and a short while later, on December 18, 1965, and the two married. Together they shared fifty-one and a half years of marriage while raising four children and taking care of many foster children along the way. They also managed to operate a very successful excavation business for many years. For the past thirty-five years they have resided on their family farm in Jaffray.

After Rose passed Isla Collinson was a wonderful companion, sharing seven years together with him.

Terry was an avid hunter, loved fishing, watching hockey and was very proud of their farm. There are many hunting, camping trips, and farm stories that will live on in our memories.

Terry is survived by his children: Brenda Long; Terry Long (Debbie); Loralie Long; Donny Long (Tara); six grandchildren: David, Kathleen, Jeremy, Jake, Tyler, and Terry JJ; great grandchildren: Scarlett, Grace, Emily, and Lily. He was predeceased by his wife, Rosalie Long; parents, William & Mabel Long, and siblings: Luverne, Betty, Lillian, Doreen, Bob, and Mervan.

An informal gathering for family and friends will be held at the Long Family Farm, 2091 Highway 3/93, Jaffray, BC V0B 1T0, on Saturday July 12th from 1:00PM – 4:00PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Jaffray Seniors Centre.

Terry’s family extends its heartfelt appreciation to all the staff at the Elk Valley Hospital, Interior Health, Dr. Tiffany Vracas, and Cherished Memories Funeral Services, for their care and support.
