Art wanted for Center Ice Art Contest
Artists take note, Columbia Valley Arts Council/Pynelogs Cultural Centre and BC Pond Hockey are currently seeking entries for their Center Ice Art Contest.
There are two submission options: two-dimensional wall art and video/digital art.
The BC Pond Hockey Association is hosting its first Pond Hockey Tournament on Lake Windermere at Invermere Feb. 3-5.
Running in conjunction of the tourney is the Center Ice Art Contest and Art Show. The winning submissions will be featured on bcpondhockey.com and at Pynelogs Gallery, and be used as the official logo for the 2013 Eastern Regional Pond Hockey Championships in Invermere.
The theme of the art is to be outdoor winter scenes on Lake Windermere, including such activities as skating, skiing, pond hockey, cycling, ice-fishing and general outdoor winter recreational scenes.
One-of-a-kind original art works, limited edition prints and artwork produced using the exact process of the original will be acceptable for two-dimensional art.
Please ensure all wall art is properly framed and/or ready to hang (proper wire hangers on the back) and three-dimensional art has a safe base and is structurally sound.
Two minute videos will be accepted in the video/digital art format, with reviewers able to watch them on a television.
All entries must be submitted in high quality or either DV tape in NTSC or PAL format, DVD (non-region encoded, using compression no less than 8kbit/sec), or submitting or uploading a high quality .avi file on data CD or DVD using a high quality DV output format and must be able to be viewed on a standard TV.
Compressed internet or Youtube videos are not ‘high quality’ and will not be accepted. As a reference, a five minute video at 720×480 should be a little over one gigabyte in size. Your file must be in a .AVI format. MPG, MOV, WMV files will not be accepted.
The art exhibit will be displayed at Pynelogs from Jan. 31 to Feb. 5 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The deadline for art submissions is Jan 13.
Please provide the following details on each piece submitted: title and medium and provide a description or explanation of the piece.
All art will be for sale to the public (optional to artist).
