Aspire Dance Academy in Cranbrook has 120 students ranging in ages three to adult training in various dance styles: ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop and lyrical.

Our dance studio just returned from a competition in Calgary on April 12-15. Out of 392 entries total at the competition, Aspire Dance Academy dancers won 12 gold medals, six silver medals, two bronze medals, and nine overall high-score trophies.

The group also had three of their routines qualify for the ‘Danceoff’ event, whereby the top 30 highest scoring groups in various categories got to compete again for another award.

Aspire Dance won first place with the overall highest scoring junior group trophy (picture above). The best part of the whole experience for the dancers was dancing for charity. All proceeds from the event were donated to each of the studio’s charity of our choice. Our studio’s charity of choice was the ‘World Wildlife Fund Canada’ which we won $700 towards.

Aspire Dance will be holding its year-end show on Saturday, June 2 at the Key City Theatre at 3 p.m. Tickets go on sale April 25 and can be purchased by calling the Key City Theatre at 250-426-7006.
